I learned how this works when I was at college in the late 70s. A friend and I were jumped from behind by a bunch of members of an Oxford University drinking club. I hit the deck and curled up to protect my head while they kicked me, I lost a pair of specs as a result. John tried to fight them off and escape. He lost the use of an eye from being kicked in the face. According to the police it was just "student high jinks" and no charges were brought. Basically from that point on I have understood that to far too many of the Public School Oxbridge elite my life is worthless and that there are enough people in most institutions prepared to kowtow to them that pretty much no matter what they do they will not suffer the consequences anybody else would. Forty years on it is, if anything, worse. They have stopped even pretending that level of privilege isn't there.

Sadly there kinda is such a thing as "too posh to die", you saw it with walking human disaster Trump, they threw the entire experimental medical kitchen sink at him, and frustratingly it prevented him from popping his clogs in a timely manner.

Let's see, conservative "leader" that's out of touch and believes in a ruling class, check. Christmas festivities / travel for the ruling party while they tell the masses to hunker down, check. Female member who got busted and was made to fall on the sword for the party, check. Anti-protest legislation, check. This sounds play-for-play like Alberta, Canada. Both parties in question are even backed by the same IDU.

I remember those austerity protests of 2010-2011 too. To think that people then had such hope…
